You are watching: What glue is safe for hamsters

I"m sort of a creative person, and also would choose to build houses and small play structures for mine hamsters once I gain them. So, I want to understand what woods i can build with and what adhesive I can use to host it with each other that wouldn"t be harmful to my hammy"s if they decision to sample the buildings? They would certainly be things that would be in their cage at all times, and also in some cases a few of the structures would go in a small play area exterior the cage the they have the right to hang the end it while i clean or something. =)I don"t plan to paint the lumber or decorate v anything, so the would just be wood and also glue, and also with some structures plastic/glass and also huge polished rocks glued down.Any help?

I think you have the right to maybe use non-toxic wood/super glue but I think that it might be safer to tac/nail points together where/if possible
yea yet WHAT woods are nontoxic? generally when i build small houses and signs because that my pets, they room pets that don"t nibble on hardwood so I simply use what ever is in my workshop (and what isn"t cedar) so i don"t recognize whats safe =0

!!!Don"t obtain cedar!!! Hamsters room allergic to them & the will eventually kill them. Aspen is your safest bet. Some use pine, but there have been some current studies the show details hamsters may have allergies to pine. That might be what eliminated my friend"s hamster. Walk for aspen.

Woops! got em the wrong means round! I expected pine, not cedar. I believed id also mention that if you wanted to, you can dye the wood various coulors through food dye.

Your the safest bet in reality is to call an exotic vet"s office. Generally vet staff space pretty friendly & will certainly be willing to answer straightforward questions favor that over the phone. As for food colour & glue...true, it doesn"t ache kids, but that doesn"t mean anything for animals. Because that example, eat a mini liquid bar will certainly be fine because that a kid, but eating just 3 bites from the can give a hamster diabetes. Hamsters are incredibly sensitive come all assets with sugar in them. I"d absolutely be careful when making use of food coloring, & examine the street content. If it has any type of at all, i wouldn"t use it. You could go to a pet save that sell colored hardwood chew toys & check out the product information on the tag/box for the hamster stuff. Anything they use have to be safe. Although, never by the fluffy noodle stuff castle sell. There have actually been thousands of complaints of the stuff getting recorded in a hamster"s mechanism & choke to fatality on it. Ns don"t understand why castle still sell all that.
