You are watching: How many quarts of oil does a kia sorento take

I had my oil changed today. The oil change place said they added 5 quarts. The manual says it requires six. When I questioned them they said the dipstick showed full and that"s all the counts. I asked KIA about it and they said 5 or 6. I pointed out the manual says 6. They didn"t seem to care.Anybody else had this experience?
Hope this helps - (Looks like you are interested in the "Drain and Refill" numbers)This is for the 2.4L 4-Cyl

Mine is 2016, but assuming they"re the same, those are interesting numbers.Since the capacity is almost 7 quarts, a complete drain leaves a quart of used oil in the system. My manual says it requires 6 quarts for a refill with filter which agrees with your numbers. But, this doesn"t answer my question. They only added 5 quarts. I suppose this means they left 2 used quarts of spent oil in the system. So, after an oil change I still have about 30% of used/spent oil instead of a complete engine with fresh oil.My question is have others had this experience?

I always have needed 6
quarts for an oil change (sometimes I even have to add a bit more than 6).That"s on the same 3.3L V-6 engine you have.I they did in fact only add 5 quarts instead of the required 6, they either didn"t fully drain the oil, or they didn"t change your oil filter (or both). (Maybe they sucked it out through the dipstick tube?)Or your oil is a quart low.Richard
