The brake tail lights are stuck on. Googled and found out it could be bumper pad or a blown sensor...anyhow, so I don"t have a dead battery in the morning, I followed the directions in a You tube video and pulled the fuse for the brake lights which turned them off until I get the car to the shop. Anyone else have this problem with their Honda? What did it turn out to be?My Honda is a 2005 Civic. Thanks!
This happened on my wife"s 99 civic and it was exactly as you described. Under the dash, you will see where the brake pedal makes contact with a piece of metal. There is normally this little piece of plastic that the pedal will come in contact with. This prevents a circuit from completing, thus keeping the lights off until you actually hit the brake pedal. You can get a new one from Honda for about 3 bucks or you can use a small nut and bolt.
Okay, problem solved! The little doo-dad plastic part had broken off. Got a replacement part from local auto shop. Cost us $8.00 versus $3.00 at the Honda dealer, but saved us an hour"s R/T to closest dealer so figured it was well worth it. Hardest part was DH having to contort himself upside down to get under steering wheel to get at area where doo-dad lives. But some groans and cursing and some pushing got the little doo-dad to snap in.Problem solved and yippee, no visit to auto mechanics! Brake lights work normally once again. Thanks for your help!

I"m glad that is all it was. I also remember trying to twist myself into some jacked up pretzel position to replace the piece.
