Is there any way to know if they do this everytime at a dealership after the oil is changed, and can it be set to come on at a certain amount of miles by the dealership? I know a lot of it depends on how you drive and so forth...just wondering

the lube tech is suppose to clear the change oil indicator every time. As for changing the distance, im sure if the shop hooked up the WiTech to it, they could set it to whatever distance you would like it to come on.

when this indicator comes on, is it coming on after a certain mileage is reached or when the oil is not passing through the system as well as it should and a computer says its time to change it? Does the car know dino oil from synthetic oil to give the correct mileage to turn on the light?

Excuse me for being didactic... but have you guys ever considered reading your Owner"s Manuals? Quote: "The engine oil change indicator system is DUTY CYCLE-BASED which means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon your personal driving style. ....To turn off the message TEMPORARILY, press and release the Trip Odometer button on the instrument cluster.... To reset the oil change indicator system after performing the scheduled maintenance refer to the following procedure:...."I.E., with ignition on but engine not started depress the accelerator pedal 3 times within 10 secs. I"m amused at the folks who throw money at tuner-chips, wheels and chrome to the thousands of dollars but never bother to read the manual that came with the vehicle or can be downloaded for free. (The CD which accompanied the vehicle when new was highly abbreviated. The FULL manual (over 700 pages) is available free from MOPAR.
