Had the trans fluid replaced at a local trans shop last week, but didn"t realize until now that the manufacturer calls for ATF+4. According to the shop, they replaced the fluid with DEX III. How critical is the +4? Is it OK to have the DEX III, or should I have them change it again before I choke the life out of the mechanic?
I believe that atf+4 is partly synthetic. All trucks 01 and up call for the +4 but I dont know if dex III is synthetic or not. I would rather see the +4 go into my tranny.

DO NOT USE DEXTRON III in your mopar trans. It will kill it.http://www.allpar.com/fix/trans.htmlATF +4 is the only approved fluid--- dealer only fluid (I sell it, but you"d get it cheaper w/ no shipping locally). The ATF+3 can be used in a pinch, but only ATF +4 is approved.Samwww.socaldakota.com619-274-1292Been there done that-- 111k miles on transmission # 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-- FIVE -- FIVE -- HA HA HA HA...
