im about to do an oil adjust on mine sisters vehicle tomorow. The a 2003 jetta 2.0. Whats the recommended oil weight and capacity? the last oil readjust was done by the dealer and also the ahead oil changes were done at a lube shop were they used castrol syntec and also some crappy filter that provided to litter the CEL. Im thinking about using mobil 1 since thats what i run in my auto unless theres something better? what about filters? should i take a dealer filter or would certainly a Mobil 1, k&n, wix be good? i understand these cars are picky so im trying to find whats the best and wont provide me any problems. Also, the drain plug, is that a typical nut or hex or torx? What size? simply trying to make certain i have whatever i need before i start. Many thanks for the help/input.
Re: jetta 2.0 oil readjust (danny501)0w40fram/mobil 1/mann/mahle/boschget underneath and check that out. Probably simply a standard 6-point bolt.
Re: jetta 2.0 oil change (danny501)
VW currently recommends VW 502.00 rated oil, best 5W-40. Note that such oil just comes in artificial in the US, although no all man-made oils satisfy VW 502.00. If you use Mobil 1, the grade v the VW 502.00 rating is 0W-40.

Re: jetta 2.0 oil readjust (danny501)Here is a comfortable dandy list of every the authorized oils. But, ns echo the Mobil 1 emotion that everyone else has suggested (I also go Mobil 1 because that my filters). As because that the drainpipe plug, it will either be a 3/4" 6 point bolt, or an 8mm hex bolt.

You have actually apparently not done any research top top Amsoil complete syn. Fluids. Mobil1 is crap contrasted to that.NEVER use Castrol Syntec, it is no a true syn. Oil.

although the is true that team IV and also V base oils are high grade and also considered synthetic, team III is also considered a man-made base oil group. And also last ns saw, mobil 1 was using group III also for their synthetics

Re: (gawa)
you gotta realize the each group comes in various stages. There room your team ones, which isn"t an extremely refined, simply thick goopy oil. Then team II which space refined, yet group II is broken into various groups such as team II+. Castrol uses group III+ just like 99% of every other agency uses since using team IV and also group V"s room WAYYY as well expensive and produce the same outcomes as team III+"s. No to point out Castrol and VW are almost joined at the hip

My advice is the make certain you torque the bolt to spec once replacing it. If friend tighten it too much, then you"ll conveniently strip the threads.
Oh... I just got a clue. Oohhhhh.... Ohhhph Frank! I have actually such a raging clue best now, i think we far better follow it.
